CHINESE NEW YEAR FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

Family traditions abound during Chinese New Year! Decorating our homes helps bring about the warm feeling of excitement at the coming festivities.

We had Winnie Hau come over to teach us this lovely Chinese New Year flower arrangement! We learned a lot of new techniques. Since nature has its way of never repeating itself, each one's arrangement was unique, depending on how the stems of the flowers curved. All were fantastic and everyone had a great time!

HAPPY YEAR OF THE RABBIT!

CALENDARS

We were very busy towards the end of November and the beginning of December. We decided to come up with some calendars as a fund-raising project for the future venue for retreats in Hong Kong. We thought it would be nice to have each month with an image of Our Lady and a quotation from St. Josemaria.

Our initial goal was to print 200 calendars. The response of friends exceeded our expectations. It was clearly the hand of God and Our Lady as orders kept on coming in. In the end, we printed 900 calendars! In addition, some good friends gave very generous donations for the project! We are very grateful to one and all for supporting our endeavour. As we look at the calendar during the year, we will keep each one in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks again to everyone!

ADVENT WREATH MAKING

We were so happy to have Grace back teaching us how to make an Advent Wreath. Everything was done by Zoom but Grace was still hands on even if it was virtual. She could check on the work of each one - and truly each one made a spectacular wreath!

We just realized that we have been making Advent wreaths with the Homemakers for 7 years now!!! And we plan to continue this tradition in the years to come.

The experience also made us realize that even if Grace is no longer in Hong Kong, we can continue to benefit from her expertise as we organize more Zoom classes with her for 2022.

Check out the photos from this activity here.

SECRET CANDLE

Maggie and Carrie were kind enough to join us once more. This time to make a SECRET CANDLE. We were so curious what it was all about. We prepared our secret message and learned how to made this candle that would be the perfect gift for someone special. It came with a beautiful and elegant black glass. They even taught us a trick on how to position it so that the message is facing the right way since we would not be able to see it once the wax settles and cools. Truly smart!

We were also lucky to have Mary Choi join us to give an enlightening talk on 'Bringing Transformation and Growth through Coaching'.

FRUIT ENZYMES FOR HEALTH

We had a great class given by Arlene-Frances Wu. After listening to her Zoom class on how to build up immunity through our diet during this time of the pandemic,  there was a  clamour for more classes... and so here it is.
She taught us all about the health benefits of fruit enzymes. Now that its summer, its a perfect time to take advantage of these fruits to make enzymes to add to our diet - as well as special enzymes to make organic cleaning material.
We all were busy cutting up our fruits and measuring out the sugar needed. We brought our jars home to nurture and aerate until its time to enjoy the health benefits of this natural enzymes.
Thank you Arlene!

BOTANICAL WAX TABLETS

We are so lucky to have Maggie and Carie from Natural Touch come to teach us how to make these wonderfully scented tablets for our home. They were so patient explaining everything and giving each of us a chance to design our own tablet.
They brought lots of flowers  and other elements for us to create our masterpieces. We also were able to choose the scent we wanted from the many options they gave us ...
Then with a precise measurements with the weighing scale and the exact right temperature with the radar gun thermometers they provided, we launched out to make our very own botanical wax tablet.
These handmade tablets are perfect for our own... or we could opt to give it to a friend - they will never believe we made it ourselves.
Thanks Maggie and Carie.... we hope to see you again for another class.
